i think milan can score against any side, certainly against a man utd team with rafael and evans playing, but im not so sure they can keep them out. i think milan have no chance if favalli plays, - does anyone know how long antonini or zambrotta are out for?

if they are back, then its possible.

Can't see it. United were far too strong last night and the missed opportunities Evans and Scholes felt like passing up will come back to haunt Milan. Milan have too many average players now. Beckham hardly had a kick and looked off the pace, as did Pirlo and I don't remember seeing Ambrosini at all. And yeah Favalli got murdered by Valencia. Tie is dead for me but who knows...

They do have a chance, but it is a very small chance. They need to score the first goal to give themselves a chance. Ronaldinho looked really good yesterday, but he is an inconsistant player. Think Man United will win but it will be close.

also i think that ambrosini and pirlo were excellent in the first half, and not the worst in the second. think favalli, bonera, beckham, pato, hunterlaar, nesta, silva didnt appear in the second half really.

is borriello set to play in the return? i hope gets into form quickly

Lots and lots of issues for Milan but the biggest disappointment was the Silva-Nesta combo. They were uncharacteristically poor as for the rest we have grown accustomed to it:

1) Favalli too old to play- nothing new

2) How can Milan still use Dida after all these years? No further comment needed

3) Bonera was never a world class defender. He's good for average games but not the big stage

4) Leonardo is proving he's right to rarely use Huntelaar. The Dutchman is a drop in level when Borriello is out.

I cannot see Milan go through at this stage because Man Utd were lucky but more importantly Rooney is there! Only if Rooney misses the return leg will Milan have a chance realistically.

its a shame as in the first 20 minutes Bonera looked liked a 27 year old maldini!

Consistency is often what separates a legend from an average player (of course composure, trophies, skills, charisma, etc.. all play a role too).

Bonera can be good for a bit or one game or a half but not throughout a campaign or a series of games.

looks like milans chances just went out of the window - Pato seems to have just pulled a hamstring or something, lookks like he'll miss the return leg, massive miss for mialn - beckham to move further up the field like he was when pato was last out injured?

Nesta missed the game so it came as no surprise Milan were easily eliminated.
The club's defensive line needs new players and Maldini was never really replaced since Nesta is prone to injury while Thiago Silva is good but only if he has a player of Nesta's caliber beside him.

Nesta is a unique talent but unfortunately age and injuries have caught up with him.

Upfront Pato cannot be replaced while Huntelaar ought to be sold. Man Utd were the better team over the two legs and deserved to go through.
